ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This artwork was created during a great period of change for the artist. Dealing with the loss of her eldest sister (one of the most influential and significant people in her life) while being 9 months pregnant at the time. Once again we see the theme of tree hollows, often found in her work, used as a metaphor. In this artwork it is used as a way to draw the viewer in to ideas of the unknown on the other side. The title tells us that it is only through experience that we can truly understand the journey between shifting realities and what they mean and to make the journey we must bravely cross the threshold into the unknown in order to experience it. From this life to the next, from being one person today and taking on a role that changes your identity or to being born into this world - life has an amazing way of moving us through existence to develop our consciousness or maybe even in order to realise its own ultimate consciousness.
